TRT Frequently Asked Questions

Our physical office is located in Wasilla, Alaska, and we also offer virtual testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) across the entire state — including Anchorage, Palmer, and Fairbanks.

We prescribe testosterone for those with low levels, and may add other medications to optimize your treatment plan as needed.

While new oral options exist, we prefer testosterone creams or injections due to their proven safety, effectiveness, and ease of dosage adjustment. Our most commonly recommended method is self-administered injections.

We provide thorough training so you—or a trusted family member—can safely administer your injections at home.

Lab tests occur every few months initially, then every six months once your treatment is stable. Additional testing may be required if symptoms change or regimens are adjusted. Labs are conducted via Labcorp (Anchorage, Wasilla, or Fairbanks)—appointments are recommended.

All treatments carry some risk. Potential side effects of testosterone therapy include elevated hematocrit, reduced fertility, prostate enlargement, acne, and hair thinning.

Testosterone therapy can reduce sperm production, which may impact fertility.  We have options if maintining fertility is your goal.

No—we do not accept insurance. Insurance companies often consider testosterone “normal” within a very broad range (350–950 ng/dL), which may not reflect your individual needs. We focus on your symptoms, overall health, and finding your personal “normal”—an approach that insurance constraints cannot accommodate.

Yes, TRT is safe when properly administered. While no treatment is risk-free, we tailor dosing carefully, monitor your labs, and recommend further reading to empower you with scientific insight.

Early studies were inconclusive and limited in scope. More recent evidence suggests that low testosterone, not TRT, is associated with higher risk of heart attack and stroke, as well as poorer outcomes in illnesses like COVID-19.

If you choose to discontinue therapy, your body will need time to adjust. We will work with you during this transition—and, if needed, use medications to help restore your body's natural testosterone production.
